Fresh, local, aromatic. These are three words that are used to describe the basil we grow at Paradise Hill Farm. From seed to fully mature, this 6 week growing cycle is done using the same passion and care that have made our tomatoes loved by you for the past 15 years. We harvest our basil with the roots still attached so that you can maintain its freshness at home right up to the time where you use it in your favourite recipe or tomato salad! Our basil is something you have to personally see and smell in order to fully understand how fresh it is. Check for availability at your local Calgary Co-op or come visit our farm store to experience the freshness and aroma of this ultra fresh basil yourself!

How to care for your fresh basil plant

  1. Do not refrigerate.
  2. To maintain freshness, remove plant from package and cut elastic then remove bag from the roots.
  3. Place in a tall water glass.
  4. Add non-treated water to the glass until it reaches the top of the net pot which holds the roots.
  5. Place in a lighted area in the kitchen and enjoy fresh basil as needed by picking the leaves from the stem.
